About this site

This is the working site for Cosmos, a book in progress. It has three jobs: say what the book is, show honestly how far along it is, and carry the dev log.

What goes in the dev log

• Decisions, written down at the moment they're made.
• Structural problems and how they got solved, or didn't.
• Cuts, with the reasoning attached.
• Occasional passages, clearly marked as drafts.

What doesn't go in: word-count victory laps, and any promise about a publication date that isn't backed by a signed one.

On drafts

Anything posted here is provisional. If a passage appears in the log and then never appears in the book, that isn't an error — that's the process being visible. Please don't quote drafts as though they're final text.
